I shoot portraits, on-location work, and personal projects, different contexts, same instinct: pay attention, and wait for the moment that's actually true.

I got into photography through people, the way a face, a gesture, a moment of conversation can carry someone's whole story. There's an old idea in photojournalism that closeness is everything, that the best pictures happen when you're actually there, not observing from a distance. That's the kind of portrait I chase, one that comes from being present with someone, not staging them.

Outside of studio work, I'm drawn to watching people in their own environment, how they move, hold themselves, react without noticing. There's always been a psychological layer to how I see a scene.

Color is where a lot of that thinking ends up. I lean toward deep, saturated, contrasted tones, not because they're trendy, but because color carries emotion, and I've learned to read a scene and know what it needs. Some situations call for calm. Others call for tension. Grading is where I make that decision.

Fifteen years in, working across genres, documentary, editorial, portraiture, film sets, and photography school taught me the storytelling side early on, which never really left.
